There were ten chairs, but one chair was always empty. One Friday, a new girl, Anna, came. She saw the empty chair and asked, “Why doesn’t anyone sit here?”The club leader, Mark, said, “This chair is for someone who feels lonely. If a student has no friends, we invite them to sit here.” At first, Anna thought it was just a nice idea. But later, she saw a boy, David, sitting alone at lunch. She asked him to come to the club. David was shy, but he came. After several meetings he started to talk and laugh with the others. Many students used the empty chair. Some stayed, some left, but all found at least one friend.
